Local, state and federal officials, members of the Courtland Street Reinterment Committee, the Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance, the volunteers who helped with recovery, the public and the press gathered at the site to consecrate the ground and hold a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the next stage of the project.
